Utility back Hamilton has won two New Zealand caps
New Zealand international Scott Hamilton join Leicester on a two-year deal in November.
The 28-year-old, who can play on the wing or at full-back, will be reunited with his former Canterbury and Crusaders team-mate Aaron Mauger.
"It's great to have Aaron over there," said Hamilton, who has won two caps.
"He's captain there now and has a big say in the club, which has enjoyed some success, so I'm looking forward to contributing to their cause."
Hamilton played two Tests for the All Blacks in 2006 against Argentina and South Africa.
PcPete999He has also won three Super rugby titles, the Ranfurly Shield twice and the National Provincial Championship.
Canterbury assistant coach John Haggart said Hamilton would be sorely missed.
"Scott has been such a reliable and consistent performer for Canterbury and the Crusaders over the years that it's inevitable he will leave a huge hole," said Haggart.
Leicester had also been linked with mercurial Fijian winger Rupeni Caucaunibuca.
